Exploring Reykjavik
We took advantage of the stunning late July sunshine to explore Reykjavik.
The iconic rainbow street was being re-painted:

We stopped for lunch, which was welcome and expensive. Around $72USD for the two of us to have a beer each, a panini and fish and chips.

There are many murals on buildings around the downtown area.

We also walked down to the water front

Safe to say we enjoyed Reykjavik. It’s a very approachable city, with no imposing high-rise buildings or imposing facades. Exchange rates mean that Iceland is very expensive for foreigners, and so adjust expectations accordingly when it comes to size of room or “fanciness” of dining experience. July/August is a busy time for tourists, but the city didn’t feel overwhelmed – just busy. Streets aren’t as busy as Chicago in the summer, for example!
